When
the buildings came down in New York on 9/11/01, Bob Tuffly, a local resident,
had the flag made by a local flag maker. On 9/11/02, the flag was suspended
from two cranes. It was flown in the parking lot of Fry's Grocery Store
at 24th St. & 4th Ave.
Jaana Noe, on her way to work at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, took this picture with her new camera. At work she discovered the cross in the starfield. A friend helped her to posted the picture on the Internet. The flag is 60 feet tall and 120 feet wide.
Don Templeman, PER of Yuma Lodge, a member of American Legion Post 19, was the Chairman of the Veteran's Day Parade. He was given permission by Jaana to display the flag in the parade.
Janna
Noe, Bob Tuffly and the Yuma Army Proving Grounds chaplain, rode a fire
truck as Grand Marshalls.
